New York Gastroenterology Associates (NYGA) is proud to be the first gastroenterology practice in the United States to offer gastrointestinal motility testing using the new Atmo Gas Capsule System, developed by Atmo Biosciences.
The Atmo Gas Capsule is an ingestible, gas-sensing capsule that is swallowed and passes naturally through the digestive system. During the test, patients wear a lightweight belt that wirelessly receives data transmitted by the capsule. The capsule’s movement through the gastrointestinal tract is then tracked, providing objective information relevant to potential gut motility disorders such as gastroparesis and chronic slow-transit constipation.
This FDA-cleared technology is used alongside other established diagnostic tools as part of a comprehensive clinical assessment to evaluate symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, early satiety, and constipation.
